I enjoyed a few days in Huntington Beach, California and decided to hike around some poppy fields before heading to the airport to fly back to Seattle. These poppy fields are located in Walker Canyon near Lake Elsinore. I thought the crowds around the tulip fields in Washington can be a little crazy, this was a whole new crazy! Cars were lined up for what seemed to be a mile on both sides of the dirt road leading to the trail to hike for some spectacular scenery. Because I was in a nature area, I almost forgot how close I was to L.A. where there are too many people.
The trail is not steep and is well maintained. I highly recommend it if you’re in the area and you go at a time when not so many people will be there. Ugh, good luck with that! My wife and I went on a Monday afternoon. but that didn’t seem to keep anyone away.
